Folk Duo MAGPIE to Perform at Cat in the Cream Sept. 13, 2025

On Sat., Sept. 13, beginning at 7:30 pm, the legendary folk duo MAGPIE will perform “Sword of the Spirit” at the Cat in the Cream Coffee House, 180 W. Lorain Street, Oberlin, Ohio. “Sword of the Spirit” is a song cycle about John Brown and his antislavery allies at Harpers Ferry in 1859, including Oberlin’s own freedom fighters Lewis Sheridan Leary and John Anthony Copeland–both of whom were relatives of Wilson Bruce Evans. Sponsored by the Bonner Center for Service and Learning at Oberlin College in coordination with Evans HHS, the performance is FREE and open to the public.
